:: Meet Jason Karson, CSCS, CES :: Owner and Head Trainer
I graduated in 1995 from the University of Connecticut earning my BS in nutritional sciences with a focus in exercise sciences and am certified through the (NSCA) National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Strength & Conditioning Specialist. I am also certified through the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES). This specialized certification qualifies me to assess, through a movement evaluation, and treat abnormal movement patterns that could lead to injury in both the general and athletic population. During my time at UConn, I assisted the head athletic trainers in helping athletes return to peak physical performance. Upon graduation, I worked as a personal trainer for both Aetna's corporate fitness center and the YMCA. In addition, I spent 4 years in sports medicine, where I worked in conjunction with physical therapists helping the general public and athletes return to their sporting activities. I have been in private practice for over 10 years and have been a consultant to both the Avon and Vernon physical education departments. Currently, I care for a wide range of people from the general fitness client to the competitive athlete. I am affiliated with Westfield State's exercise science department providing internship opportunities for students interested in the field of health & fitness. As an expert in the field of health and fitness, I am often a guest speaker presenting on topics ranging from sports nutrition to strength and conditioning for improved sports performance.
